The data displays the total number of cases of fraud in internet banking in Belgium from 2006 to 2018. In 2018, over 3,200 cases of internet banking fraud were reported in Belgium. This was an increase when compared to 2016 and the highest number reached since 2006. Ever since the launch of digital payments, the payments industry tried to create a secure environment for financial transactions. The most common type of fraud in internet or online banking comes from phishing emails, a way of trying to trick people into giving secret financial information.
