The data depicts the total number of credit cards issued in the UK from January 2016 to July 2018. This total includes all credits cards currently in issue for all accounts, and as such the total number of credit cards in issue is higher than the total number of credit card accounts in every month of the period under observation. It can be seen that the total number of credit cards in issue in the UK remained relatively stable during this period, reaching a total of approx. 59.5 million cards issued as of July 2018. The biggest number of cards recorded during this period was in August 2016, with a total of 60.
