It can be seen that the total number of credit card purchases in the UK increased overall with some fluctuation during this period, reaching a total of approx. 264 million purchases as of May 2018. Credit card purchases appear to follow a seasonal trend with higher purchase numbers happening towards the end of the year in the run up to the Christmas period. January and February of 2017 saw credit card purchases number under 240 million as compared to November and December in the same year numbering over 250 million in purchases.
