Europe's main merchant transactions card acquirers as of 2016

The data describes the leading card acquirers (banks and other financial organisations licensed by Visa and Mastercard to be able to issue credit cards directly to merchant processors), ranked by merchant card transactions acquired in Europe as of 2016. In that time, WorldPay from the UK was ranked highest among the leading card acquirers, with nearly 6.9 merchant transactions. Second in the ranking was Russian Sberbank with 5.3 billion transactions.
