The data shows the total number of insurance companies within the UK as of June 2017, by sector. Of the total of 924 insurance companies, a total of 646 were involved in the fire and damage market. Insurance companies often compete in more than one type of insurance, hence the number of companies operating in each market making up approx. two thirds of the entire market.
