The French corporation AXA was the leading company operating in France in 2016 with gross written premiums amounting to approx. 28.4 billion euro. Credit Agricole (France) and CNP Assurances (France) finished the leading three insurance groups in France with gross written premiums totaling nearly 26 billion euro and approx. 24.3 billion euro respectively in 2016. The only non-French insurance group to be in the top five in France was the German group Allianz.
