The data depicts the reported gold consumption in the U.S. from 2007 to 2017. In 2017, some 170 metric tons of gold were consumed in the U.S.
Gold consumption in the United States In 2015, the U.S. reportedly consumed 150 metric tons of gold. Around 265 metric tons of gold was imported into the U.S. for consumption with most of this coming from Mexico – more than 40%. Other major countries as a source of imports into the United States included Canada, Colombia and Peru. Interestingly, the U.S. recycled some 140 metric tons of new and old scrap gold in 2015 – almost as high as the reported consumption.
