Number of assisted living facilities in the United States 2006-2015

The data displays the total number of assisted living facilities in the U.S. from 2006 to 2015. In 2015, there were 15,836 assisted living facilities in the country. In Americans over the age of 65, almost 70% will require long-term care. As the U.S. senior population grows, there will be increased pressure on the quantity and quality of long-term health care facilities. As of 2015, Brookdale Senior Living was the biggest assisted living chain in the U.S. with approx. 993 such facilities.
