The data displays the leading 15 nursing home chains in the U.S. based on number of staffed beds in 2015. Ensign Group based in Mission Viejo, California had 13,803 staffed beds nationwide as of year-end 2015. In that year Genesis HealthCare had the most nursing homes among the leading nursing home chains in the United States with 419 such establishments. In 2015, the average length of stay at for-profit nursing homes was 172 days, compared to 307 days at government owned nursing homes.
