The data displays the total mandatory excess (in Dutch: verplicht eigen risico) under the Dutch Health Insurance Act (Zvw) from 2008 to 2018 (in euros). In 2018, the total mandatory excess was expected to reach a value of 400 euros. This is an increase of the 385 euros reached in both 2017 and 2016. The number for 2018 is unclear as of yet and will be finalized on October 1, 2017. On September 19, the demissionary Dutch government of Rutte II, consisting of the liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the social democratic Labour party (PvdA) announced that they would increase the total mandatory excess to 400 euros for 2018.
