This survey displays the distribution of opinions among U.S. physicians on their professional morale and feelings about the current state of medical professions from 2012 to 2016. In 2014, 37.1% of surveyed physicians felt somewhat negative about their professional morale and current state of the profession. Many physicians in the U.S. are changing from an independent practice owner to an employee. Most continue to experience high pressures to keep up with demands for their services and suggest that new physicians must be trained to prevent shortages.
