The data shows the fatality rates West African Ebola compared to major global infectious diseases as of March 30, 2016. Polio has a death rate of around 10% while Ebola's is four times higher. The Ebola virus causes extremely severe hemorrhagic fever and is considered a Risk Group 4 Pathogen by the World Health Organization (WHO).
