Comparatively, 76% of respondents aged 18 to 34 years correctly indicated that Lyme disease is transmitted from a tick bite. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by ticks to humans. If left untreated, Lyme disease can affect the joints, heart and nervous system.
