The data shows the percentage of U.S. adults that knew how Lyme disease is transmitted as of 2017, by age. According to the survey, 95% of respondents aged 55 to 64 years correctly indicated that Lyme disease is transmitted via tick bite. Comparatively, 76% of respondents aged 18 to 34 years correctly indicated that Lyme disease is transmitted from a tick bite. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by ticks to humans. If left untreated, Lyme disease can affect the joints, heart and nervous system.
