The data shows the percentage of U.S. adults that practiced select prevention measures against ticks and Lyme disease as of 2017. According to the survey, 91% of respondents used some sort of preventative measure to avoid ticks and Lyme disease. Comparatively, just 60% of respondents indicated that they used insect repellent. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by ticks to humans. If left untreated, Lyme disease can affect the joints, heart and nervous system.
