The data displays the number of people worldwide who were blind or had moderate or severe vision impairment in 1990 and 2015, in millions. In 1990, an estimated 30.6 million people were blind, while in 2015, around 36 million people were blind. Blindness and vision impairments come from a variety of diseases or injuries and can lead to life-long disability.
