The data displays the exports of iron and steel scrap from the U.S. between 2006 and 2017. In 2017, around 14 million metric tons of iron and steel scrap were exported. This includes used rails for re-rolling and other uses as well as ships, boats, and other vessels for scrapping. Recycled iron and steel scrap is one of the most important materials for the production of new steel and cast iron products.
