The data presents the most popular mobile apps in the U.S. as of December 2016, ranked by average unique monthly visitors on iOS and Android platforms. As of that month, the Google Maps app averaged close to 102 million unique U.S. visitors per month.
In the U.S., the mobile internet user penetration is set to reach 80.6% of the population in 2021. Statistics show, however, that the majority of those who access the internet through their mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets or smart watches, spend a considerably longer time on mobile apps rather than on mobile browsers.
