The data displays the organic agricultural land area in Finland from 2010 to 2017. Over the survey period, the area of organic agricultural land increased annually in Finland. In 2013, the land area used for organic cultivation exceeded 200,000 hectares. According to the preliminary figures, the organically cultivated land area was expected to amount to approx. 264,000 hectares by end 2017. In Finland, cold winters limit crop production potential but decrease the need for pesticides. Due to rainfall during summer months, irrigation is needed only occasionally.
