The data displays the results of a survey among American adults on their approval of U.S. military action against the extremist group ISIS ("Islamic State of Iraq and Syria", also IS - "Islamic State") in Iraq and Syria. ISIS follows jihadist and anti-Western principles, and claims to be responsible for the killing of several Western hostages. During this survey, which was conducted in September 2014, 60% of respondents stated they approve of U.S. military action against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
