The data displays the results of a survey among American adults on how closely they have been following the news about the extremist group ISIS ("Islamic State of Iraq and Syria", also IS - "Islamic State") in Iraq and Syria. ISIS follows jihadist and anti-Western principles, and claims to be responsible for the killing of several Western hostages. During this survey, which was conducted in September 2014, 34% of respondents stated they had been following the news about the Islamic militants in Iraq and Syria very closely.
