The data describes the share of average time spent per day with media by U.S. adults and the share of media advertising spending in the U.S. in 2016. Mobile accounted for 28% of time Americans spent with media in that year and 21% of the United States ad spending. Mobile advertising spending is forecast to more than double between 2016 and 2021 from 32.64 billion USD to over 72 billion USD. Some of the largest spending growth will be seen in native/social advertising, which is expected to reach more than 24 billion USD in 2021 and a further five billion USD will be spent on messaging advertising.
