In terms of vehicle sales and revenue, Toyota and Volkswagen are counted among the most successful automakers worldwide. Toyota experienced a significant increase in revenue after seeing flat revenue streams over the past three years. Volkswagen finished second. Despite being involved in the diesel emissions scandal, the German automaker, apparently with the help of fraudulent methods, was still able to increase its revenue to around 260 billion USD in the fiscal year of 2017, up from around 240 billion USD in the 2016 fiscal year.
