The data displays leading book genres in the U.S. as of July 2015. During a survey, 27% of respondents stated they had read a romance in the year leading up to the survey. The most popular genre was mystery, thriller and crime books, which 47% of respondents had admitted to reading in the past year. A similar trend can be seen amongst e-book readers, as 50% of respondents in a recent survey stated that mystery/thriller books were their favorite genre of e-books. The genre which has experienced the biggest sales growth in the last few years is the romantic comedy genre, which has recorded sales growth of 357%.
