When asked which of the following devices and equipment they currently used for listening to music, a 56% share of UK adults aged 16 years and older stated that they used a CD player (Hi-Fi) to listen to music, making it the most common device for music consumption ahead of laptops (50%) and mobile phones or smartphones (47%). In line with this, a breakdown of music album unit sales in the United Kingdom shows that the physical CD was by far the best-selling album format in the United Kingdom in 2015, with 47.
