The data describes the number of television households in the U.S. from the season 2000-2001 to the season 2017-2018. The number of TV households in the U.S. in the TV season 2017-2018 was estimated at 119.6 million. Whilst the number of TV households continues to grow, the number of pay TV households is on the decline. In 2015, there were almost 100 million pay TV households in the U.S. and this figure is projected to fall to 95 million by 2020. This marks a 1.3% fall in the number of TV households in 2020. Of the number of television-equipped households in 2016, 45% were wired cable and just 4% were broadband only.
