The data describes the passenger vehicle sales volume in Japan from 2008 to 2017. In 2017, approx. 4.4 million passenger cars were sold to customers in Japan, up from about 4.2 million units in the previous year.

In terms of sales, Toyota and Honda are the leading car brands in Japan. Worldwide, car sales amounted to around 71.2 million in 2014.
