The data displays the most dependable car brands, based on the number of problems per 100 vehicles as reported by around 37,000 original owners of 3-year-old vehicles in the U.S. The graph is based on the 2018 Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), which was fielded between October and December 2017. On average, 142 problems per 100 vehicles were reported.
