Well known as the major wine producing region of the United States, California had 4,391 wineries in 2018, over five times that of Oregon, the next closest in wineries in the nation.
Even with the growing number of wineries, the U.S. was only ranked fourth worldwide in terms of wine production, with Italy ranked number one, at 51 million hectoliters of wine manufactured in the year.
