Proprietary club prices were the highest on average at 5.37 GBP a measure, followed by hotels at 5.02 GBP. The amount of duty applied to a glass of table wine has increased year on year in the UK, with the highest off-trade prices found in the South of the country. In terms of on-trade alcohol consumption, beer is the preferred beverage of choice, followed by wine. Wine has, however, experienced a surge in popularity, which has seen it take a large share of beer sales.
