The data displays the method of killing as a proportion of all homicides in England and Wales (UK) in 2015/2016, by gender. Independent of gender, the most common method of killing was the use of a sharp instrument. The biggest gender differences were in the methods 'hitting, kicking etc.' and 'strangulation, asphyxiation', with the victims of such methods being significantly more often male and female respectively.
