Use of firearms in crime in England and Wales, by weapon type 2002-2016

The data displays the number offences recorded by the police in which firearms were reported to have been used in England and Wales (UK) from 2002/2003 to 2015/2016. by weapon type. At the beginning of this period, there were more crimes involving air weapons. This did, however, change in 2005/2006 and has remained as such since then. Overall, there was a significant decrease in the use of firearms generally in crime during this time.
