The data displays the number of sole registrations of live births in England and Wales in 2016, by the age of the mother. A sole registration is a birth registration which includes no information about the father of the child. There was a general increase in sole registered births as mothers approached the age group of 20-24, after which the number of sole registered births declines steadily.
