The data displays the life expectancy at birth in Scotland in 2000 to 2016, by gender. Throughout this time period, the life expectancy for women was longer than that for men, although the gap has narrowed from 5.5 years in 2000-2002 to 4.1 years in 2011-2013. Life expectancy for both genders showed year on year growth over this 16 year time period.
