The data displays trend of candidates who took a European language at A level in Northern Ireland from the academic year 2010/2011 to 2016/2017 as a percentage of the total number of learners for each year. In 2016/17 Spanish became the most popular language, while French became the second the most common language. Spanish was proportionally much more popular as an A level subject in Northern Ireland than in England and in Wales.
