Scottish independence: projected public sector net debt 2012/13-2062/63

Projected public sector net debt of an independent Scotland and UK from 2012/13 to 2062/63 (as a share of national income)

The data displays the projected public sector net debt (PSND) of Scotland and the UK, in the scenario that Scotland were independent from the United Kingdom, from 2012/13 to 2062/63 as a percentage of national income.

The model used is that of the Institute for Fiscal Studies from their study entitled ' Fiscal Sustainability of an Independent Scotland '. Until 2017/18, the PSND as a percentage of national income for Scotland is projected to be lower than that of the United Kingdom. In 2021/22 though, the percentage for Scotland is predicted to be 2.

2017/18 84.8 76.2
2021/22 75.8 78.3
2062/63 77.1 233.2
