In the first quarter of 2018, Dell EMC was the leading vendor of servers worldwide, shipping 555.79 thousand servers. The majority of server shipments are built on the x86 platform, which is particularly popular for use in large-scale data center build-outs worldwide. Server purchases by service providers are currently driving the market, while enterprise purchases are expected to fall, both on a unit and revenue basis.
