In 2018, global desktop PC shipments were expected to reach 95.4 million units. Possibly due to the widespread uptake of laptops and notebooks, and more recently tablet devices and even smartphones, sales and shipment figures for desktop PCs have sunk steadily since 2012 are expected to decline into the future. Many experts argue, however, that there will always be a role for the traditional desktop PC, particularly in the workplace.
