The data displays the number of people employed, both directly and indirectly, by the Indian IT and business process management (IT-BPM) industry from 2008/9 to 2016/17. Direct employment from the IT-BPM industry in India reached 3.9 million people in 2016/17. In the past decade, the Indian IT Industry was revitalized by the massive wave of outsourcing from foreign companies. In 2014, the infrastructure outsourcing service segment accounted for the biggest portion of IT outsourcing spending in India.
