The data shows the total expenditure on research and development in the Nokia Networks segment from 2012 to 2016. The expenditure increased considerably from 2015 to 2016. It increased from 1,738 million euro in 2015 to 3,691 million euro in 2016.
Nokia comprised of two businesses: Nokia's networks business and Nokia technologies. The networks business comprised of mobile networks, fixed networks, IP/Optical networks, applications and analytics.
With respect to Nokia's total expenditure on research and development in 2016, its expenditure on its networks business was much more higher than its expenditure on Nokia technologies.
