Toyota's global car sales For three years in a row, Toyota has been the biggest automaker in the world, based on calendar year sales figures. The company designs, manufactures and sells passenger vehicles, trucks and motorcycles under five brands, including the millennial-targeted brand Scion and the luxury brand Lexus. In the long run, it is expected that Germany’s Volkswagen Group, currently the second biggest automotive manufacturer globally, will overtake Toyota both in terms of sales revenue and production output.
