China has become one of the biggest markets for automotive vehicles worldwide. From 2000 to 2013, the market share of China in global light vehicle sales had experienced an eightfold increase from 3% in 2000 to 25% in 2013, and is predicted to reach 29% by 2020. Meanwhile, vehicle sales in China went up significantly and the annual growth rate varied over the period from 2008 to 2014, reaching a peak of 45% in 2009.
