U.S. consumers' brand type preference of processed meat and poultry purchases 2017

Do you prefer national or private label/store brands when purchasing processed meat and poultry?

The data illustrates the results of a survey conducted in December 2017. Some 1,500 U.S. consumers were asked if they prefer national or private label/store brands when purchasing processed meat and poultry. During the survey, approx. 44% of respondents reported that they had a preference for national brands.

National brands are brand-name products that are distributed throughout the country. In contrast, there are private label/store brands, which are only carried in specific retailer stores or chains. These retailers are solely responsible across the whole supply chain for the private label/store brands marketed under their roof.
