The data depicts the 15 leading countries within the European Union (EU-28) for extra-EU imports of furniture, furniture parts, mattresses, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings in 2017, ranked by import value. France imported approx. two billion euro worth of furniture and soft furnishings from outside the European Union and was ranked third, after the UK and Germany.
Due to the low productions costs of countries outside the European Union, the furniture industry faces enormous competition and it has been recently hit by a significant decrease in the number of enterprises, employees and turnover generated.
