The data illustrates the amount of oil removed after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010. A total of approx. 827,000 barrels of oil have been collected or flared. The U.S. government estimated the total amount of oil spilled to some 4.9 million barrels.
