The data displays the share of gem and near-gem quality diamonds in major diamond producing countries for the period from 2009 to 2018. For this period, it is expected that 76% of all the diamonds from Botswana will be of gem or near-gem quality. The diamond industry, unlike other precious metals and natural resources, relies almost exclusively on consumer demand for diamond jewelry. The diamond industry is expected to flourish despite weak global economic growth.
