The data describes the total size of the Bitcoin blockchain, the distributed database that contains a continuously-growing and tamper-evident list of Bitcoin transactions and records, from the third quarter of 2010 to the latest quarter. The size of the Bitcoin blockchain has been growing since the creation of the Bitcoin virtual currency in 2009, reaching approx. 173 gigabytes in size by the end of June 2018.
