The data displays the number of contactless cards allowing for contactless payments in the UK from January 2016 to June 2017, by type of card. It can be seen that 74.2 million contactless cards were debit cards as of June 2017, making this the most common type of contactless payment card on the British market. With the rise in the number of contactless cards distributed the payment industry has seen a similar rise in the number of bank owned payment terminals and transactions made using contactless debit and credit/charge cards.
