The data displays the total number of transactions from credit cards for domestic payments in the Netherlands from 2005 to 2017 (in thousands). In 2017, approx. 59.5 million transactions were made in the Netherlands from credit cards for domestic payments. Between 2010 and 2016, the total number of payment transactions per card in the Netherlands increased from approx. 72 transactions per card in 2014 to approx. 98 transactions in 2016. However, Dutch consumers increasingly used debit cards for their purchases as the volume of debit card payment transactions increased with every passing year.
