The data displays the number of payments per capita in Belgium from 2010 to 2016, by type of payment service. In 2016, approx. 40 transactions in direct debits were made in Belgium per capita. The most payments, however, were made with cards issued by resident PSPs. This number reached 151 payments per capita in 2016. Like in other European countries, credit and debit cards are a popular form of digital payment methods for either physical purchases in brick-and-mortar-stores or for online purchases in the Benelux region.
